To experience more of Oman in two days, choose a connected journey instead of building a schedule around repeated drives back to the same hotel. The FOX ATVS All-Terrain Expedition starts at Al Jarda, moves through mountains and wadis, and finishes in the Wahiba Sands area. You drive a guided UTV, camp overnight and continue from inside the landscape on the second morning. It is a cross-section of Oman—not a claim to see the whole country.

Think in routes, not a list of pins.

The distance between attractions is only one part of a travel day. Finding the turning, choosing a suitable road, organising food and returning for a parked car can also shape the itinerary. A connected expedition brings those arrangements into one plan, leaving you more attention for the drive itself.

This does not mean fitting every famous place into forty-eight hours. The better question is which landscapes connect naturally, and which kind of journey you want between them. Mountains, wadis and desert can form a progression; a long list of unrelated stops can become a day spent checking the clock.

Day 1: enter the mountain route.

At the FOX ATVS Al Jarda Hub, the day begins with the people and the machine: meet the guide, complete the briefing and get familiar with the controls. The route then moves into the mountain and wadi system around Wadi Al Tayeen and Jabal Abyad.

Rock, gravel, gradients and changing views give the drive its rhythm. Lunch is part of the programme. The overnight plan includes camping equipment, a private sleeping tent and dinner / BBQ. The exact campsite depends on the chosen route and conditions; a high mountain night needs a warm layer, even when the lowlands felt hot.

Day 2: keep moving toward the desert.

The advantage of camping on the route is simple: after breakfast, you continue from where the first day took you. The full expedition progresses toward Wadi Bani Khalid and then Wahiba Sands, also called Sharqiyah Sands. Day 2 lunch is included.

Walking or swimming stops depend on the programme and current conditions. Water crossings are assessed by the guide. The expedition’s final desert phase brings a new surface and a new driving rhythm, then finishes in the Wahiba Sands area.

Solve the road-car question before you leave.

FOX ATVS can arrange an optional paid road-car transfer from Al Jarda to the agreed Wahiba Sands finish, subject to availability and vehicle suitability. Arrange it in advance. With the transfer confirmed, you can continue your wider Oman road trip from the desert instead of returning to Al Jarda for the car.

If you do not choose that service, confirm another onward-transport plan before departure. Keep the evening after the expedition flexible, because conditions can affect arrival time. Read the full All-Terrain itinerary and transfer details before choosing your dates.

When a return loop makes more sense.

If your onward plans bring you back toward Muscat, Oman Rocky Trails keeps the mountain and wadi experience in a loop that returns to Al Jarda. The one-day option concentrates on driving and includes lunch. The two-day option adds mountain camping and four meals, still ending where you started.

Choose the full All-Terrain Expedition when reaching Wahiba Sands is part of the appeal. Choose Rocky Trails when a return to your starting hub fits the rest of your trip better. These are different route choices, not simply different names for the same journey.

What makes the expedition price meaningful?

You are booking access to a developed route: a prepared two-seat UTV, guides, fuel, safety orientation and technical support. The two-day formats also include camping and four meals. The planning and support continue when the terrain changes.

The published prices are OMR 690 for the full All-Terrain Expedition, OMR 550 for two-day Rocky Trails and OMR 450 for one-day Rocky Trails, per two-seat vehicle. Driver and passenger share that vehicle price; optional transfers and upgrades are separate.

Before you commit two days.

  • Every driver needs a valid car driving licence and must be 18+. Previous UTV experience is not required, but sustained attention and following the guide are essential.
  • Expect a physically active journey with vibration, heat and uneven terrain. Discuss suitability with the team and seek professional medical advice if uncertain.
  • Suitable personal travel insurance covering the activity in Oman is required. FOX ATVS does not include or provide it. Read the insurance requirements.
  • Confirm the selected route, camp, meals, passenger suitability and onward transport before booking.
