The mountain makes the machine make sense.

A rocky climb asks for control. A wadi track changes the surface beneath the tyres. Then the trail opens, the suspension starts working and the next bend introduces a different view. Rocky Trails is built around that changing rhythm.

The mountain network around Al Jarda, Wadi Al Tayeen and Jabal Abyad gives you a substantial day at the wheel within reach of Muscat. Extend it to two days to wake up inside the route, with the camp and meals taken care of.

Rocky Trails — 1 day.

Start with the vehicle and safety briefing at Al Jarda. Follow your guides into the mountain and wadi trail network toward Jabal Abyad: climbs, rocky sections, technical descents and open tracks. Lunch, water and refreshments are included.

This option focuses on a full day of driving and returns to Al Jarda at the end of the programme. There is no overnight camp, dinner, BBQ or breakfast. Departure and return timing depend on the confirmed route and conditions.

Rocky Trails — 2 days.

Give the mountain network more time. Day 1 moves from Al Jarda through wadis and climbs toward Jabal Abyad, with lunch on the route. The evening belongs to the mountain: dinner / BBQ, camping equipment and a private sleeping tent are included.

After breakfast on Day 2, continue through the selected trail network, with lunch included before the return toward Al Jarda. Both formats finish at the starting hub; the two-day Rocky Trails option does not continue to Wahiba Sands.

Who is Rocky Trails for?

For drivers who want an active, demanding day or a complete mountain overnight. Every driver must be 18+ with a valid car driving licence. Previous UTV experience is not required, but confidence at the wheel, sustained concentration and following the guide are essential.

This is a moderate-to-high-demand outdoor activity involving prolonged driving, vibration, heat, altitude and uneven ground. It is not suitable during pregnancy or for children under 10. Passengers aged 10+ require team approval and suitable seat and restraint fit. Guests above approximately 130 kg should contact the team about equipment limits before booking. If you have a heart, respiratory or back condition, recent surgery, significant motion sickness or difficulty with heights, discuss the demands with the team and seek professional medical advice if uncertain. FOX ATVS does not provide medical clearance.

Trail rules that keep the group together.

  • No alcohol, intoxicants or driving under their influence.
  • No racing, uncontrolled drifting, overtaking without permission or leaving the guide’s route.
  • Respect villages, private property, wildlife and historic sites. Leave no litter.
  • Follow the briefing on seat belts, helmets, passengers, stopping and convoy distances.

Bring what the mountain needs.

  • Valid driving licence and identification
  • Closed shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing
  • Warm layer for mountain wind and the overnight camp
  • Sun protection, personal medication and your insurance details
  • A small bag; swimwear and a towel if a suitable wadi stop is confirmed

For the one-day option, a warm layer is still useful on exposed high trails; overnight personal items are needed only for the two-day format.

Choose the time. Confirm the route.

The team confirms your meeting time and directions to Al Jarda. Both options return there, so your road car stays at the starting hub unless separately agreed. Leave flexibility around return times and confirm passenger suitability before booking.

A valid car driving licence is required and every driver must be 18 or older. Do I need insurance for this adventure?

Yes. Suitable personal travel insurance is required before participation in every full-day or multi-day format. FOX ATVS does not currently provide, sell, underwrite, guarantee or include it; you arrange and pay for your own policy. Obtain written confirmation that the policy covers Oman, emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation and repatriation, and your guided self-drive off-road UTV, SSV or dune buggy expedition as a driver or passenger, including any public-road sections in your confirmed programme. Many standard policies exclude motorised off-road activities. Do not assume that vehicle damage, deposits, personal liability or obligations under the Terms, Waiver or damage schedule are covered.
