Wadi Al Rak gives you a short off-road adventure about one hour by road from Muscat, depending on your starting point and traffic. One hour of driving, a two-seat vehicle and instruction before departure make it an option for a half-day outing with a friend or partner. No previous experience or driving licence is required for this route; driver and passenger requirements still apply.

Helmets and seat belts must be used while driving. Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Do not overtake the guide or other vehicles. Do not use your phone while driving. Racing, reckless driving and unauthorised drifting are not permitted. Follow the guide’s instructions when stopping or changing route. The guide may adjust pace or route according to trail conditions and the group’s ability.

Do I drive the vehicle myself?
Yes. This is a guided self-drive adventure. You drive your own vehicle while the guide leads and supports the group.
Is this a suitable first buggy adventure near Muscat?
Yes. Wadi Al Rak welcomes first-time drivers, with a vehicle introduction and practical instruction before the guide leads the route. No driving licence is required for this particular adventure. Drivers must be at least 16, and passenger, health and equipment-fit requirements apply.
Do I need a driving licence?
No driving licence is required for the Wadi Al Rak adventure.
How much time should I allow for a trip from Muscat?
Allow for about one hour by road each way, depending on your starting point and traffic, arrival 30 minutes before departure, and one hour of driving. Together, that makes this a half-day outing rather than a one-hour trip from your hotel. Confirm your departure time and the Al Jarda meeting pin before setting off.
Should I arrive early?
Yes. Please arrive 30 minutes before departure for check-in, equipment and briefing.
Can a couple or two friends share one buggy?
The advertised vehicles have two seats: one driver and one passenger. The OMR 35, 45 and 60 options are priced per vehicle. Both participants must meet the applicable requirements. If you both want to drive, ask the team about driver arrangements before booking.

The OMR 35, 45 and 60 options are per two-seat vehicle, not per person.
Can I book if I am travelling alone?
Yes. You can book and drive the vehicle on your own.
Is transport from Muscat included?
Transport from Muscat is not included in the base price. The meeting hub is in Al Jarda, approximately one hour by road from Muscat depending on your starting point and traffic. Contact the team if you need help planning your arrival; allow 30 minutes at the hub before departure.
Can children join?
The activity is not suitable for children under seven. Passengers must be able to sit safely and use the seat belt and required safety equipment correctly.
Does the adventure operate year-round?
Yes, the experience is offered year-round, subject to weather, route and operational conditions.
What happens if trail conditions change?
The guide may adjust the route, pace or stops to maintain safety and preserve the quality of the experience.
Do I need insurance for this adventure?
Personal travel insurance is strongly recommended for this adventure. Suitable cover is required for any full-day or multi-day adventure or programme. FOX ATVs does not provide or include it; you arrange and pay for your own policy. Before booking, obtain written confirmation that it covers Oman, emergency medical care, medical evacuation and repatriation, and this guided self-drive wadi and rocky-trail adventure in a buggy, UTV or SSV, as allocated, for your role as driver or passenger. Standard policies may exclude these activities. Do not assume vehicle damage or your obligations under the Terms and Waiver are covered.
