Desert Taste is a 30-minute guided self-drive buggy experience in Wahiba Sands, also known as Sharqiya Sands, near Bidiyah. Meet your guide at Al Rakah, gear up, learn the controls and follow a short route into the dunes.

Elite Pro
Stronger acceleration and responsive handling in the Polaris Pro XP. More performance to enjoy the dunes, with your guide leading the way.
Prices cover one two-seat buggy. Thirty minutes total includes equipment fitting, briefing and the short guided drive. Driver and passenger participation, vehicle allocation and departure time are confirmed with the team.

Do not enter soft sand. Arrange parking near the mosque or follow only the hard-packed route confirmed by the team. Optional pickup and drop-off is OMR 10 for two people. Confirm your pickup details with the team.

Driver and passenger requirements
A valid driving licence is required for self-drive dune experiences. Previous dune-driving experience is not required. Confirm participant ages, guardian arrangements and suitability with the team before booking.
What should I bring?
Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and closed shoes. Bring sun protection, identification, your driving licence for self-drive, and the saved arrival instructions.
Health and suitability
This experience includes bumps, slopes and sudden movement. It is not suitable during pregnancy or for guests with back, heart or other conditions that rough movement may aggravate, or anyone unable to use the safety equipment correctly. Ask the team before booking if unsure.
Season, weather and booking terms
The main season is September to April. The team confirms your departure and may adjust the route to the weather and sand. Review the linked booking terms before confirming. Transport, meals and personal insurance are separate.

Do I drive the buggy myself?
Yes. Captain and Elite Pro are guided self-drive options. Bring a valid driving licence and follow your lead guide’s route and instructions.
Is the price per person or per buggy?
Captain is OMR 39 and Elite Pro is OMR 49 per two-seat buggy. The passenger seat is included, subject to the participation requirements.
What is the difference between Captain and Elite Pro?
Captain is the Segway Villain category, with a more hands-on driving feel. Elite Pro is the higher-powered Polaris Pro XP category, with responsive performance and more advanced vehicle technology. Both follow a guided route; vehicle allocation depends on availability.
Where does Desert Taste start?
At the FOX ATVs Sand Hub in Al Rakah, near Bidiyah, at the edge of Wahiba Sands. Follow the confirmed meeting instructions and ask the team about the final approach before travelling. Do not enter soft sand in an unsuitable car.
Should I choose Desert Taste or Desert Rush?
Choose Desert Taste for a short introduction, covered in 30 minutes total including equipment and briefing. For more time in the dunes, choose Desert Rush, our two-hour experience.
